Chelsea’s captain John Terry has entered the fray by saying that Manchester United’s stay at the top would be short – lived.

Terry was responding to Sir Alex Ferguson’s broadside when he said that Chelsea were “too old” to mount any formidable challenge this season.

The Chelsea captain admitted that United had been better than them last season but the best from Chelsea was still to come.

He was also of the opinion that United were at their peak and had only one way in which they could go.

Terry also remarked that Chelsea, under new manager Luiz Felipe Scolari, were ready for the challenge and it was just a matter of time before he would bring about a change of fortune at the club.
